Hello AdjunctWorld community!  My name is Brooke Shriner and I have recently joined our friend Matt in his efforts to bring you all the most up-to-date list of online adjunct jobs available.  I’ve come on as the new Community Manager for AdjunctWorld and one of my missions (and I’ve chosen to accept it!) is to help Matt scour the web for work opportunities for our community, post them, and promote them so we pop up on your screens as often as we can to help you in your job search.

Engaging the Community

While finding jobs is cool and important work, I’m even more excited to engage our community of over 8,600 adjuncts in interesting discussion and to be here as a resource as you endeavor to find opportunities to do what you do best — teach!  I aim to facilitate discussions and answer questions occurring both here on the AdjunctWorld site and on our social media channels — Facebook and Twitter.  I’ll also be writing articles that speak to the needs of the online adjunct.  You’ll see these on our blog and I’ll include links to them in our Weekly Update emails.

A Little About Me

I was born and raised and currently live in Louisville, Ky.  I earned my PhD in clinical psychology from the University of Louisville in 2009.  I practice as a licensed clinical psychologist at a neurorehab program–helping suvivors of stroke and brain injury adjust to and find meaning in what has happened to them.  I’ve also worked as an adjunct instructor for seven years now, primarily online but I have taught in the face-to-face environment as well.  For four years, I’ve taught an online teacher training course for The Learning House, Inc. and have worked with several hundred adjuncts like yourself who are endeavoring to make online teaching careers for themselves.  While I’m a psychologist by trade, I’ve found a niche and passion in the area of adjunct teaching.  I could not resist Matt’s invitation to join him at AdjunctWorld.

A Family Affair

My husband, a software engineer, has been the chief architect behind the AdjunctWorld website and continues to work from a technology standpoint to make AdjunctWorld more helpful and easy to navigate.  He and Matt have been working together for several years now on various ventures, so the AdjunctWorld community is a very tight-knit one.  Matt’s son works with my husband on AdjunctWorld techology as well.  Its very much a family affair here at AdjunctWorld.  We are a small family of people motivated in our own ways to bring adjunct teaching jobs to your doorstep.

Thank you for the opportunity to work with you all and, as always, best of luck as you search for adjunct work.
