Fundamentals of Online Teaching (OT 101) Course Syllabus Sampler

Whether you hope to teach online, are newly teaching online, or are a seasoned online instructor, our four-week, fully-online, instructor led, interactive course will help you increase your skills as well as knowledge and experience of online teaching through weekly lessons, assignments, discussion boards, and self-checks (a term I prefer to “quiz”). Upon successful completion of this course, you will receive a Certificate of Completion that verifies the time you invested in developing your online teaching skills and abilities.

We are currently in the beta testing phase of our course launch. If you are interested in receiving updates on future offerings of OT 101, please email Brooke.  In the meantime, here are some books that are listed in our syllabus as highly recommended reading and as very helpful to online adjuncts at any stage of their career – whether you are seeking to become an online instructor or wanting to hone your skills after years of experience.

“As an online instructor, I really enjoyed reading this book! Johnson’s style is laced with humor–he knows how to connect with the reader. The book is written in a friendly, collegial manner as if we were sitting down over a cup of tea, discussing things like how to build a learning community in an online venue, how to encourage low-performing students, or how to write that exemplary email.” Amazon Review
